Today's buzz word is "patience" and flexibilty - monitoring various public service radio frequencies - reports of many spinouts, icy highways (as in primary roads) with accidents, disabled vehicles - about 3" of snow on the grounds this morning in NE Queens so far. Highway patrol (RMP) calling dispatchers to send salt trucks out to sand down - yet, this is nothing compared to the post-holiday blizzard 4 weeks ago, but the main event isn't here yet.
Forecast revised/upgraded 2 hours ago, text alert from NYC-O.E.M. to a Winter Storm Warning 10AM today thru 6 AM tomorrow for NYC & surrounding area (6" to 9" accumulations - which the snowbelt folks are laughing at .... but, hey, it's NY

)
All 3 local airports are already experiencing flight delays and wind speed going higher later.
Better arrived safe & late than NOT.
