The beach at the hotel is very nice, but, on its right side, it was a war zone, when we were there, because of the construction.
Room service is well organized at the W.
Bophut Fisherman's Village (nearby): restaurants became mostly tourist traps to be avoided. There is one place though, where you can seat on pillows on the beach, with some good music, and have drinks. Easy to find.
Good restaurant also at the Anantara Resort.
Zazen Resort & Spa: still on Bophut, but after the Fisherman's Village. Nice small hotel where you could have a drink or a dinner, or both.
They also have a nice shop.
Very small restaurant on the
beach, just after the Baan Taling Ngam hotel, on the west coast of the island. You can have a simple lunch a few meters from a beautiful beach, with just a few people around, if any.
On the way, you can stop on the corner of the road, of the Muslim Village in Hua Thanon, and check a few nice shops.
- Buffalo vs. buffalo fighting: a local tradition, with spectacular beasts.
- Bird singing contest: a south of Thailand thing.
- Get you camera ready, when you see a truck full of coconuts: there is often one or two monkeys hanging on to the outside bars.
- Muay Thai: if you are into that, you could go visit the training spots in Lamai.
