Sales isn't for everyone - if you are going in with no experience, and what seems like little enthusiasm, I am not sure how long you would last, having known a few sales people in my time. Perhaps you would be better considering other routes to travel, things like a political aide (I would have thought journalism would stand you in reasonable stead writing press releases etc). You might have to start at a lower level, but those working for ministers travel frequently.
