To split or not to split (itin)?
The wife and I are flying ORD-FRA in a couple of weeks with W fares and have already applied SWUs. The tix were purchased a couple of weeks ago and the UGs have not cleared yet. The last time we did this trip we did not clear the UGs and I thought it may have been because there were 2 of us on the itinerary and the NC space may have been opened up one at a time.
When I purchased these tix the agent advised me not to split the itin as the UG priority is based on status (I am a 1K and my wife has no status). I thought clearance was based on time on the list (FIFO) not status, but the agent on the 1K line asked around (including her supervisor) and said this was not the case but rather that the list was always status based (not just at the 24 hour window before the flight), and said the only time it was advisable to split the itin would be if both were 1Ks.
After all the recent changes I'm not sure what the current policies are, so I thought I'd consult with the collective wisdom of FTers. What would you do in my situation? Split or not?
