"As for a good Jewish deli in Chicago...I like 11 City Diner and Manny's...though Manny's is less a deli and more an old fashioned cafeteria (get a chocolate Coke!)."
I work close to Steve's Deli in the River North / Merchandise Mart neighborhood and have lunch there once or twice a week. I think it's a pretty good "Jewish style" deli.
Potbelly's in the city are like gas stations - seemingly one on every corner. I long for the days when it was an independent "mom and pop" type operation because the sandwiches were better. Until I had a heart "issue" I'd get a breakfast sandwich at the Potbelly in the Merchandise Mart. They're pretty good in the a.m. (eggs, veggies, etc.). Now that I'm on a different diet I avoid whole eggs and Potbelly doesn't have egg white sandwiches - which Subway does, and where I get one maybe once every other week. Potbelly is a comfortable place to eat and the prices are right - here in Chicago.
