As far as domestic vs international: I fly by far more international on Star Alliance, which resolves the question of access to the lounge due to Star Gold membership.
Regarding domestic travel: less in my control and I still fly a lot of SW and non-Star Alliance.
So are you a LH SEN? (Not sure what the S* is). If that shows up in your profile, then yes, RCC matrons would let you in. You're Star Gold in a foreign program (if the case). You should have showed that card to the PClub attendant - they were probably seeing UA status only, and thus you got ix-nayed.
