Like a lot of other young FT'ers who have posted here, I'm interested in this sort of career, at least for a while. I'm finishing up my senior year of college and trying to figure out what to do next year, and I'd love to travel while I'm still young and don't have to worry about leaving a family or other commitments at home. My problem is that most of the road warrior jobs (IT, consulting, sales, engineering) have nothing to do with my degree (Double journalism and history major from a top-15 university). At first, journalism might sound like the ticket, but its really only the veterans who have already "made it" who get to travel for their stories....the rest of us are slaving away for ~$20K a year working 6 days a week and rarely getting out of the office even to report on local stories.

So, any tips on leveraging my degrees into something interesting and travel-related? I'm thinking marketing/communications is where to look - really, anything that involves editing or writing well on a deadline sounds good to me. I'd love a job working for an airline magazine, but I have absolutely no idea how to get one, as most of the articles seem to come from freelance contributors...
