Is this cost effective? Doing the entire thing on EK will likely cost the same or less than the same ticket originating in DXB. You might be wasting all those VS miles.

Transferring terminals is easy. Airside they are connected and it is a 10 minute walk, landside you can take the metro from one to the other.
