With Star Alliance, the problem is alleviated because the 30kg allowance you normally would receive on the first business class sector flights magically becomes 50kg, which is 10kg over your standard 40kg F class allowance.

The point is - ALLIANCES are there to make things seamless. Right?
How is it any less seamless as it is? If there was additional allowance there would still be an issue since the "standard" allowance would be 60Kg for 1st for someone with status but the 1st flight would still have the issue of there being only 50Kg and there would still be issues of not being able to check 60Kg in on the 1st flight.

Whether the allowance is 30Kg and then 40Kg vs 50 Kg and 60Kg there are no seams being removed by increasing the baggage allowance
