Actually it is not an Italian restaurant but a gourmet restaurant. It is not the best restaurant in Italy either. The top 3 in Italy 2010 are:
Osteria Francescana in Modena
Le Calandre in Sarmeola di Rubano
and Combal.Zero in Rivoli
according to World's 50 best restaurants ranking.
It is however one of only 6 three* restaurants in Italy and the only one in Rome, which some would say is the same as being the best restaurant in Rome. In this case I would not argue with that...it's run by a German chef.
