WineCountry - you have a good sense to you. Yes it was sarcasm. I'm quite twirked at UA's lack of consideration for the segment guys. It's absolutely ridiculous. There have been some Mileage guys that have stood up in arms, with their comrads, but I felt that a point needed to be made here. UA is widdling away at our benefits (earned or not - I understand that debate). I wanted people to see that UA picked off the weaker folks first, the segment guys. We all know segment guys bring in as much or more revenue than mileage guys, but it's a painful way to make status and there aren't alot of them. So they reduce there benefits first, then comes the mileage guys. A little slip to 120,000 miles, no big deal, after all, the segment guys eventually accepted 120 segments, so it all makes sense. Oh and then the million mile guys, well, why exactly do they get benefits at a "mere" million miles...perhaps that should be 2 million miles. It is uite the slippery slope.

I hope that we all stand up, as some are doing, and complain about changes that hurt our fellow FTers. Yes I realize UA is trying to squeeze a buck out of us, it's a market environment, it's business. But I'd ask that they first look internally and cut the fat and stupidity out of their operations before chopping benefits from their loyal fliers who are on the edge of jumping ship.

I've started to calm down a bit, and will likely stay with UA if they can somehow keep it within themselves to maintain status quo. I don't think AA is going to offer us their top status (although I hope they would). If that were the case I would likely jump ship. But I'm not thrilled earning top status on AA the hardway. All that said, if UA decides to eliminate E+, I am absolutely gone. I have another 15-20 years of flying ahead of me, and likely to be 100K or so most of those years (of course none of us really know that with certainty). I know it's not much, but I bet ther are more of me out there, and it is something UA should start factoring into their decisions.
