I'm not quite sure about this....
Once, a friend of mine left the US with a car over Canada and got back to Europe from Canada and didn't get a stamp from the US and next time when he came back to the US, this was a real problem and he spent quite some time arguing before entering the US. He's French.

And Canada always has some kind of control at the exit, no? At least, they've always controlled me
