I think MR points are tremendously more valuable than SM with the inflation we've been seeing with DL/SM. I mananaged to channel MR "miles" into *A via ANA (NH) and booked two RTW J tickets for 170K miles each recently. Real price for the tickets was close to $32K (which would be cost prohibative for me/most I assume). Doing the math at that transfer rate 50K is roughly equal to $4,706. My point is, 50K SM are worth far less than 50K MR points these days. I am so tempted, but my SM balance is already sky high!
I did register yesterday and the promo does show in my SM account today. I was NOT targeted, so seems it doesn't matter.
