Within the US, guns can be carried on GA aircraft without issue, possible exception being DCA or other airports within a presidential protection zone where TSA must inspect passengers and planes. That is assuming, as Mr. Elliott pointed out, that it's legal to have the weapon at both departure and arrival cities/airports.

Outside the US, it's governed by the laws of the country involved.
