Tmobile will unlock it as long it's their phone. The owner of the phone just has to be a current customer in good standing. The phone does not necessarily have to be on the account. However, as already mentioned, it will take at least a couple of days for them to get you the code, so I'd suggest you do it via ebay or another 3rd party.
