letitride3c, my error - I have both T-Mo and AT&T, mixed up the two plans - your statements on the difference between the two plans is spot-on.
Sorry about that!
Not a problem at all, these 2 "giants" are constantly playing around with their offering matrix and I was out of the country for 3 weeks and being jet-lagged, wasn't sure if I missed out on something while we're in HK, VN & CN with limited outside world access out on PVG's countryside. I have a Gophone account for 3 years plus manage another one for my traveling cousin, among others so it's an unpaid p/t job just to keep up with it all - LOL.
It seemed that my $1 M2M T-Mo plan is now grandfathered & not available to new users with the new offering coming up & there are recent changes made to Gophone's MTM calling rates too, so I'm not sure if I'm happy with it but I need its data package for occassional access. If T-Mo keep the Gold Status plan unchanged & I can do a one-day or 7-day pass data addition since my voice minutes on both providers are very little to none, I might just port my Gophone # over. Otherwise, I'm just about ready to get a generic non-nonsense (= cheap **) dual sim, unlocked quad-band phone so that I can keep my domestic number(s) as well as oversea (HK/CN mobile numbers) standing by on a single device.
Back to subject, I look at Simple Mobile's plan/offering but it seemed that T-Mo's option might be less costly to the OP, depending on her/his needs or usage (int'l SMS, calling & data, roaming, etc.) for under $50 a year (year 1) or $100 a year (for Gold + 1000 minutes) and then $10 a year - assuming these "basic" but always subject to change core packages won't go away or grandfathered into something new (read = costlier) But Gohphone's OLAM does offer something I hate T-Mo for, detailed calling/usage info that T-Mo doesn't PROVIDE on any of its PP plan.
** Looking at one of those el cheapo generic OEM E71/E72 phones made in China, eBay shipped for well under $100USD so that I can stop carrying 3 mobile phones on the go.
