+1. Also indicate you understand it's your responsibility to understand terms, yadda yadda, but it was unexpected because (in my personal case) the fee was charged 8 weeks after account opening. Could, as a gesture of good will, they reverse the fee? And if not, that's acceptable and you will not escalate the issue further.
Worked for both accounts.

May have helped that I have lengthy credit history with Chase, maybe not. Who knows.
