I go to Trip Advisor; can book their top value rated Rome hotel for 100 euros/n, 110 includes breakfast for 2; 3 minutes from the train station. Now I ask myself; we are there to see the city, nothing else (swimming in March?), having been a 10 year Diamond with Hilton and before that Hyatt Diamond we have stayed in plenty of nice properties, so I ask myself sitting on over 1m in points, where/when should I use these darn things? My best guess would be in Chicago/New York and get our employers to reimberse us the going rate, for example late October Lakeside ES is $279/n for 4 nights or for around 160K, any thoughts?
I'm exactly in the same boat as you..I'm going to Rome in end-November for a honeymoon. So- i am contemplating using points for 4 nights, or go to that same hotel I think you are talking about.
Obviously, the pros are staying in a supposedly wonderful hotel vs. an "ok" one. The cons are- although its a honeymoon, we are going to be out and about in the city a lot, thus I'm not really sure how much we'll use the hotel. I'm only a HH Silver, so I wont get access to the lounge (crappy or not).
Urgghhh decisions, decisions.....
