The second agent was very nice and transferred me to web support which did a straight exchange and over rid the change fee and the fare difference! Checked in online, all seems good.

Keep in mind too that AC's Rapidair service between (YYZ-YUL-YOW triangle) u can standby for a same-day earlier flight for free.... my way is to buy the last day's trip (often lower in cost) and do a standby to the trip i wanted.
