I have just discovered the marriott cheques award (elite only) ... 1000$ (50*20) for 135000 points ...
This could be a nice way for me to reduce the price paid out of pocket for some weekend stays while still accruing nights towards status and points (instead of using plain awards that dont)

So lets say i take a 4 day weekend with a 150$ room rate and hand over 8 50$ cheques ... Would i still get credited for 4 nights and 10*4*150 = 6000 base points ?
Or would i get 4 nights and 10*4*(150-50-50)=2000 base points ?

What if i hand over 12 cheques such that the room is actually "free" do i still get the 4 nights and 6000 points ?
