That would be tough for me. I took a bump today IAD to JFK for $400--traded a CRJ exit row for 5A on a CRJ with....Delta. First non UA flight for me in a long time. First non *A flight in a really long time. It's only 58 minutes wheels up to wheels down though--not 4.5 hours.
I guess another way to think about it--would you have paid $400 cash for the E- to C upgrade SFO to ORD? If not (I wouldn't) then you probably did well to take the bump!
