The Northwest 747-400 was my preferred aircraft for trans-Pacific flights in business class.

The old ANA 777-300-ER had 7 across in business class. Service is great, but the food can be just OK. I always lucked out and never got the middle seat on ANA. There are some new 777-300-ERs with a great looking business class seating that I have not yet tried.

I have found Delta's 777 pod seat to be very uncomfortable and painful for a tall person. My feet were cramped resulting in pain, and my head tended to fall off of the headrest. I personally avoid the Delta 777 in a business pod. It could be a great seat with some modification.

Thai had a fairly decent 2-2-2 business seat on the A340-500 nonstop to BKK, but that service is gone.

Last year returning from Asia I changed from the 747-400 through NRT to Emirates through Dubai to JFK and ended up in the middle seat on a 777-300-ER in business. In addition to Emirates' poor quality service, I missed the comfort and space of the 747-400. Because Emirates has 10 across in coach on the 777, you can not stretch out and take a walk around the plane mid-flight, you have to stay in your own cabin. At 10 across, the coach passengers were hanging in the aisles.
