To be fair to DL, the business class cabins on the 744 are actually very nice with the lie flat seats et al. and Delta certainly needs to cater to the lucrative premium flyers that they court (not too mention they need a decent product up front to keep up with the competition).

I agree that the 744 Economy product on US carriers sucks. However to be fair to DL again, I understand that AVOD is coming to the 744 and a big investment will be made by the airline. It's not going to be great for the short term, but longer term it will definitely help the Economy product.

I'm glad to see DL invest in the 744. The upper deck Business Class cabin on the 744 is heaven compared to the 767's and I find the lay flat style seats quite comfortable.

United OTOH has no plans for AVOD in their 744 Economy product.

The only good thing about United Economy on any of their longhaul aircraft is E+ if you're a Star Elite member. E- is certainly nothing to write home about.
