I would add that equipment changes happen somewhat regularly on a direct flight with a stop at a hub. Often the equipment change is not announced until mid flight on the first leg. Also, when I have stayed on the a/c at the stop (usually sitting comfortably in F so no desire to go anywhere) the GA has come onboard to check my BP and account for me. In other words, not a very good idea at all.
