Internet script errors in hotels and airports

Many times when I'm in a hotel or airport, I get a repeated script error message on the home page when I try to connect to the Web: "Do you want to continue running scripts on this page?" or something like that. (The error message is way too long to copy.) Usually I hit yes or no (it doesn't seem to make any difference which one) a few times and it goes away. But sometimes it never quits and is so bad I can't use my laptop without rebooting--and I have to use the power key instead of the software to turn it off. I'm using Windows XP and have had this problem with IE 6--8. Is there a solution--other than changing operating systems and/or browsers, which isn't going to happen?
