There is a problem here that obviously don't seem to know about or understand. The ships inventory (cabins, rooms etc) is NOT in the ships hands until the ship has actually sailed. Up to this time it is still in the hands of the of the pier co ordinator THAT is why it took so long to offer the couple a new room. This is also why upgrades are done with the pier coordinator. However since the ship was due to sail full they had to wait and see if the ship would really be full of if there were any last minute cancellations.

What does suprise me though is OP you said you have sailed before so why didn't have the steward hold you luggage and then go have a meal, relax on deck and wait in "comfort". OK granted you were tired and probably not your usual happyself but why let it get to you even after your trip.

The ship upgraded you once they were at liberty to do so....

Now be honest this was a 4 days cruise??? in an inside, on one of the oldest ships in the fleet - how much did you pay for the cruise????

By the way had they really sailed full and there been no alternative you will have seen them rip out the carpet and replace it amoungst other things (have seen them do this before)
