Out of the many hotels I've used in Stockholm, the Grand Hotel is the only one that has anything approaching the kind of full service that would be expected of one of the best hotels in a major city.
I have been using the Clarion Sign hotel -- which is a nice business/tourist hotel -- but lacks in the service department that which only the Grand Hotel in the city delivers. What it does have is a good outdoor pool area for sunbathing, but you have to pay for it on top of your room rate.
After the Grand -- which does deserve its mixed reviews -- I've been pretty much indifferent between the Radisson Blu Strand and Royal Viking hotels, the Scandic Anglais, the Hilton Slussen, the Sheraton, and the Lydmar.
