What, you mean the Swedes and the Swiss discriminate against Americans? I must admit that I have never seen that happen, but then I am from Europe. Generally, I have noticed that North American guests seem to have some of the best suites in European hotels, but perhaps that is due to them having good travel advisors.
Can't say for sure, but my Virtuoso travel agent and her peers here in La Jolla have long suspected this in Europe. It isn't my idea. But my experience at the Le Richemond in Geneva could only be explained two ways:
Gross, total, utter, and perhaps intentional incompetence OR
Dislike of american travelers and shabby treatment accordingly

If the best hotel Stockholm can muster is the Grand in-the-back-on-the-freeway, well, .... end of sentence ..... I would note that I have been in the waterfront rooms but I found them noisy from the frontage traffic and the views are OK. I've not been in the new wing, but a good restaurant does not make a hotel. If that were the case, the MO LV would actually be good rather than tedious.
I've CERTAINLY encountered anti-Americanism in France, and a little in Switzerland.
