I agree. After getting sick of the Grand, I moved to the Rival and on my third stay, got tortured. My last stay at the Rival was a disaster -- service, when I got it, was hostile and unfriendly. The room couldn't have been smaller. I am not embarrassed to say that I booked the Sheraton for my next trip. This is a sorry state of affairs for a city such as Stockholm. Silicon Valley, as bad as it is, is good compared to Stockholm.

On the Grand -- I wonder if there isn't some American bias at this place. I have had that issue in Switzerland. At a lake-front Geneva hotel, I was upgraded to a dark dismal cave in the back with a dumpster view. The hotel was at 10% occupancy.

PS -- The Rival Astroturfs TripAdvisor. Don't trust the reviews.
