Question International / Domestic Airline Switch

Newbie here...

I will be flying CLE-ORD-PEK-CGO in the next couple of weeks and had a curious question. The CLE-ORD-PEK part will be with Continental and I know they allow two checked bags since it's an international itinerary. However once I get to PEK I switch airlines (since Continental doesn't go to CGO) to a local one (China Southern). The tickets were purchased by the school I will be going to and the itinerary their travel agent sent them has all of the flights on it.

My question is this -- I know most airlines will allow the same baggage allowance on domestic flights as long as there's an international destination involved. Do you think that China Southern will see that my original flight was from an international location and let me take two checked bags aboard? Or will they only see their part and charge me for the second bag?

Thanks!
