Just to update on this. I sent an email to the TSA via the website and received claim forms. Filled them out and faxed them back. Got a letter at the end of April to say my claim had been assigned a 'control number' and a handler would be in touch soon. Received an email around the middle of June with a 'questionnaire' regarding my claim. I filled that in, sent it back. Heard nothing since so I rang this evening for an update. The handler said a settment letter was sent out this week, I'll need to accept it (she didn't know how much it was for) and sent it back before a cheque is issued. Hopefully it's for the full price of the glasses.
Wow, our efficient government in action. It's only taken 4 1/2 months since you initially contacted them to get to this point. I'd guess it will be at least another month after you accept the settlement that you actually see a check for much less than the full replacement cost.
