After some more thought I think I'm reaching a final route. The first part would remain almost the same:
DUS – (ZRH) –
SFO –
LIH – (surface to
HNL) –
AKL
After reading that LX is flying from ZRH-SFO with A340-300's with new seats, I think I would prefer this over LH or UA (through FRA). Even thought this is only a day flight.
The second part is changed:
AKL – (NRT)-
KIX (for a week in Osaka, possibly more) and then
PVG -
PEK - (FRA) -
DUS
or
PVG -
SIN - (MUC) -
DUS
The first choice would get me an LH A380 from PEK-FRA and the second an SQ 77W from SIN-MUC (without a surcharge). Both Beijing or Singapore would be good to finish with, allthough Beijing might probably be more interesting. PVG might get cancelled in both options since I feel it could be one city too much...
This itinerary would, as I understand it now, give me some C flights that are better than standard on the long-haul routes ZRH-SFO, AKL-NRT and PEK-FRA/SIN-MUC.
And it also gives me the option of booking a separate NZ flight from AKL to SYD or RAR. Especially the flights to SYD are cheap, and they have some nice holiday packages for RAR.
