Don't believe it for a minute. I am a regular soda drinker who carries large cups of soda purchased in port back to the ship and every time I board (including RCC, Celebrity and Princess), the boarding dragons have made me hand them the cup and have removed the top and smelled the contents. Since all I drink is pop, I never have had an issue with it.
