Still I believe fast driving is possible without bringing others in danger, as long as you are responsible enough to not speed up when traffic situation or wheather ... donīt allow to do so.
Thank you for your condolences.
Yes, I'm sure there are situations where it is safe to drive fast. I also know that driving fast can be exhilarating and fun - I still remember the kick I got some years ago, putting my foot down on a fairly empty Autobahn the moment we passed the "Bundesrepublik Deutschland" sign after leaving Belgium, and my husband falling about laughing in the passenger seat because he thought it was so funny that his docile wife had suddenly turned into a girl racer.
But... the death of my friend has certainly changed the way I drive (and I don't even think it was conscious). And I think there are too many people about who think they can drive fast and be safe, but who aren't as safe as they think they are. Personally I would prefer to see lower speed limits on public roads, with more racetracks opened to the public on non-race days for those who want to have fun driving fast.
But all that is just personal opinion (which I know others aren't going to share)... I hope the OP will enjoy his ride.
