So, Sunday night I am on this route - and there were 8 seats available in BF. We asked about this at check in and I have to say I loved the answer:
"Sorry, they are for employees on standby"
This translates to me as "screw you for your loyalty and paying for your seat, we're giving it away free"
Well the employee was misinformed and certainly spoke inappropriately but the policy is quite clear. And you got exactly what you paid for - a seat in the cabin you reserved.

The companies remain in business. That is a pretty good up-side.
