i5/i7-based X201 is much faster than the X301 (ULV Core 2 Duo). If you want a thin, ULV 13" machine, the X301 is a pretty good option (although for a machine that large, I'd recommend a full-speed CPU rather than ULV).
That said, any modern 11.6"-12.1" system is going to be more portable and more usable in coach than any 13"-13.3" one, even a super-slim model like the X301/Macbook Air/Dell V13.

Not performance by any stretch of the imagination. An i5-520M (base processor on X201) is going to be more than twice as fast at CPU-intensive tasks than the SU9600 (top of the line processor on the X301).
