I can confirm that bringing in the new passport in person isn't actually necessary; I renewed my passport, updated the info online in GOES, and successfully used it at a kiosk yesterday afternoon at IAD.

I do hope that I can make time to stop and get a new sticker at some point, though. Does anyone know if an appointment is needed for this?
