Exactly. BUF is often my departure spot, its well worth the 1.5 drive for me, it really often in the past saved hundreds on airfare. I've never actually departed from DTW, but connected many times from YYZ and from BUF on NW.

FM counts each departure/arrival, so thats why connecting airports (or hubs) quickly make it up the ranks. I havent actually been to Amsterdam 35 times, but have connected to other spots in Europe/Middle East there at least 12 times. I now fly UA most of the time, so I expect ORD and IAD to slowly make their way up the ranking.

I'll be adding 8 new airlines this summer, and visiting my 100th country
