I was out and about most of the morning, both the BTS and MRT are running all lines, all stations, 06:00 - 00:00. Today is a holiday, Coronation Day, so very few people out and no traffic. MBK seemed normal for a holiday. Passing by Racthadamri Road I was surprised at how few protesters were actually there. It honestly looked like ~ 500 at most. The nearby temple, Wat Pathum Wanaram, looked completely full of pick up trucks and all the trees and bushes are covered with drying laundry! This whole area looks quite dirty and will likely take a week or so to clean up. Many people expect the Red Shirts to disband once the PM provides a date for the dissolution of Parliament. Given the proposed 14 November date for elections one would expect dissolution in October? So most people expect the Reds to clear out before the weekend. The PM has been bold and daring (IMO, and I'm no fan), offering up his reconciliation plan before getting even his own Democratic party on board. Hard-liners on both sides do not want to give in but now they're looking like they want to destroy the country rather than reconcile so the PM may have pulled off an impressive feat.
