Trouble is, the only person who's calm, cool headed and respected is probably His Majesty. And last I checked, he wasn't (publically) doing a whole lot.

In my mind that would leave the UN as the neutral 3rd party. But then again, this whole thing is a mess that's internal to Thailand. Why would the UN get involved?

There's ultimately nothing that prevents the 2 sides from talking informally away from the public eye. If they need to speak more publically, they can always jump on a plane to Switzerland and have a chat there - the most neutral of any country if there ever was one.

It seems that elections are around the corner so perhaps things will settle now. But somehow, I think all this is a dream. No matter what the outcome of the eventual election, one side (red / yellow) will now think it their right and perhaps even their duty to shut down interesections and protest.
