Present your AA card at check in and ask for miles. With Hyatt Place, I prefer the kiosk check-in as my miles consistently post when I check in that way and input my own frequent flyer number (though in past months that has been a UA number and not an AA number due to UA promos).

[*]How does GP know to give miles or credit to my AA account? where do i input my AA#
There isn't an option on the Hyatt web site to add your AA number. It has to be done on check-in. I've had occasions where I presented my UA card and the stays still posted as points, but a quick call fixes those.

[*]if its after five stays, what shows up during the first four stays, assuming after stay 5 of the promo, the 30K in AA miles pops up?
With the UA promo it would just show 2000 bonus miles for each stay, plus the 500 base miles for the stay. If the AA promo is done in the same way, you would look for the 3000 bonus miles to post per stay plus your 500 base miles (separate entries).

[*]Status stay credit? it sure sounds like you get a elite qualifying stay credit, but does it post the same without any points?
All of my recent UA-credited stays qualified. No reason to think it would not work the same with AA. I've already redeemed 4 of those nights in Melbourne.

[*]How do I switch back after the five stays to GP points? same way that i switched over to miles?
Just don't present your AA card. Points is the default unless you ask for miles. Keep in mind you still get your Diamond amenity points even if you select miles for the stay.

[*]I haven't registered to select points or FFN yet? will this make a difference or will I be forced to go with FFNs since I have selected miles for some of my stays?
I don't know the answer to that, though I'd suspect one promo has nothing to do with the other. I took the free nights with my UA credited stays and everything was properly credited.
