Not sure why you're surprised. Those magazines make a living off of their advertisers. Most of them (maybe all of them?) aren't worth the paper they're printed on.
Lots of discussion over the years on the Parker boards about this very topic. I stopped reading that magazine a long time ago. I do somewhat trust
