After an accident last week I'm going to have to cancel or change on EK itinerary due to leave the UK on 30th April. Given the current ash cloud situation this might be a blessing in disguise, but I want to make sure I chose the best option for me in the circumstances. Insurance should cover any out of pocket costs but I haven't been in touch with them yet. Cancellation is £100, changes £75.
The original flights were booked last year so qualify for the "old" mileage rates. If I change rather than cancel will the new flights qualify for the same? If not, do I have to check for dates when Saver fares will be available before re-scheduling if I want to be sure to get them?
Are there any EK "funnies" I should be aware of while making any new plans given the circumstances?
