After getting a very quick initial response and redirect to the proper authority, that agency got back to me within two business days of my inquiry. While it was a little late for my trip, I certainly can't complain that they took too long. Similarly, the response at the airport to the food items I did bring with me was respectful and quite reasonable. They carefully looked at everything, commented on how they'd like some t, and let me bring it all in.
