As near as I can tell or recall, two people have reported that they opened their accounts in December 2009, got the bonus in January 2010, tried to open another account this year, and were denied the bonus.
One person says it's based on account opening date.
My question is, has anyone had actual success opening the account in December 2009, getting the bonus in 2010, and then opening another account for another bonus this year?
I'm traveling to Chase country next week, so I'd like to try, but I'm just wondering if anyone has been successful in this scenario.
The fine print specifically says this, which sounds to me like the reward date is the controlling date:
Limit one personal checking account-related reward per customer, per calendar year.
It is based on the date of the account opening.

The branch manager showed me that my previous account was open on Dec. 31, 2009 but their system also shows bonus shipped on 01/10/2010 (maybe the day that I made the debit card transaction). She thought that might be the reason that the system thinks I already took the offer in 2010 instead of 2009. Anyone has similar experience? Thanks a lot.

The Chase online rep was quite unhelpful, telling me to call the regular Continental 800 number.
