Check them all the way. Picking up at SFO, then hiking back to the intl terminal check-in desks, then re-checking them, all in the name of a CX J tag on your bag is a little crazy. Bags pop out quick at HKIA anyway, and (presumably you're not a HK ID cardholder) if the visitor line is a little busy or you deplane at a far gate your bags might be out before you even get there.
