I'm kind of surprised there isn't work being done on some common form of international ID that is hard or impossible to forge (though "imipossible to forge"is probably one of those falsely comforting phrases). Now that British passports are a hot subject, having been used in an assassination, I am really wondering when global ID will start to be pushed. The fact is that there were two copies of all those passports and only after the killing did they discover it was so.
Anybody against the idea?
Ok, so you're in the sterile area, with a BP which is fake.
So what?
You have to go through the same screening as people with legitimate BPs. Passing screening is what determines entrance to the secure area, not the ownership of a BP.
What's the difference between buying a cheap ticket and going through with a legitimate BP when you don't intend to travel and going through with a fake BP?
Even if you brought in a super-douper everyone has to show ID at security, how would that stop someone who simply bought a cheap ticket gaining entrance to the secure area? The answer is it doesn't - it just means they have to spend a bit more cash. Now, I know we are in recession and all that, but it does seem that terrorists are not having to tighten their belts to that extent
