On a trip years ago the X used to put the rental car key on his keyring. So when we got to EWR he realized (apparently this was my fault) so we had no way into our car (or house) and 3 cranky kids. X is now my favorite letter
I did the opposite - I was given the second rental car key for a weekend and then couldn't find it as we were rushing to the airport. Oh, and by "key" I mean "Prius fob."
Somehow, the guy didn't ask for the second one, or charge us for it. Talk about a huge celestial get-out-of-jail-free card. :-:
(When I found the fob...in the side pocket of my suitcase
...a week later, we just mailed it back to Hertz and hoped that it would get matched up again with the right car.)
