I think this is a slightly misinformed opinion. Sure, there is some lag in our kids making the same grades as those in China and India, but it's not like we're teaching different material. It's not like China is teaching 4th graders rocket science while our kids are learning to spell. The question I have is how are we falling behind? We're still the #1 creator of medicine, #1 in space, #1 in nuclear research, etc.
I hate NCLB because it puts it all on teachers with little accountability toward the children or parents.
