also learned first hand in Panama, that maps that do not have all the roads listed or give them only in a general manner, can lead you to be where you do not realize.

once we were down to amador we figured it out and got around, and made it back to the south toll road without issue, today I could go back and be a lot better at getting around due to my first experience.
